Some of you that have been homeschooling for a while may laugh
about my great "new discovery," but we had a great time today
playing Make Ten. I made up 4 sets of cards numbered 0-10 and
shuffled them. As I drew each card, my daughter would say how much
more was needed to make 10. If she got it right, she got to keep the
card. She liked this a lot better than pencil work and went through
all 44 cards very quickly. She would have moaned and groaned about
doing that on paper, but wanted to play it again as a card game.
I think we'll be doing a lot more math this way. I can just see it
... Make Nine, Plus 2, Plus 9, the possibilities are endless!
