Government Freebies

This is the giant freebie in the sky. This is the centralized site for all freebies from the government to teachers. You can sign up for their newsletter which updates you on new things on the site whenever a new
program gets started. Most of these are downloadable. There may some things that do not fit your school, but then posters are always great decorating tools! ~Jube

If you prefer to have the printed versions mailed to you:
Go to http://ed.gov and you will find a little link called "Ordering Publications Online"  for a publication in print instead of downloading it from the federal site. ~Melinda

NASA freebies will be listed under the NASA folder on this site. That's a whole other chapter! ~Jube

The U.S. Postal Museum, part of the Smithsonian has a great site for educators.  There are many downloadable lesson plans. ~Jube

Raisint raising your child's water IQ with fun and games.

National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places  Great resource for teaching at historical places.~Jube

The American Philatelic Society has a web site which includes helpful information for children interested in stamp collecting and teachers who want to incorporate stamps in their lesson plans. Free educational kits are available which link stamps to various disciplines. ~Jane

Resources at the Postal Service can help you provide a whole unit study on the history of the mail, including the pony express.

Just a note from me, I got this because we have the software. Well, once they got the kit, I could not get the kids off the software because it helped them understand it so much better AND it had a map so the kids could see where they were on the journey. ~Jube


To borrow science videos for free.
Just wanted to follow-up on this - we ordered two videos from them (one about nuclear fusion and one about computer animation) and my son loved them. They arrived promptly, with a stamped, self-addressed return envelope for
reply.  We'll be using this again - and again. ~psam
