Diary of a Homeschooler
Summer Boredom Busters

Hope you like this list of activities to help fight the summer boredoms. At our house we had
3x5s with inside activates and outside activities. But Becky's idea was a bit more fun since you could put them in a box and pull them out, never knowing exactly what the choice will be. Hope this helps keep the sanity in your summer. We made a list at the beginning of the summer, bought some color foam "popsicle sticks" and wrote each thing on a stick.  I have even written the names of specific parks, gone through our Crafts book and written down specific crafts with their page numbers, etc on there. Then, we choose one whenever the situation warrants and have at it! We've had such a full summer already that we actually haven't used it very much yet but I figure that most of the things will be good through the fall too. I find that it's not only helpful for us during the day but for when Dad's home at night or on weekends too. We want to do something but invariably can't think of anything except for our "regulars" so this helps shake things up a bit. Read the Rest of the Story

List of the Month
Texas Home Educators

Texas Home Educators is a list to serve the Home Educators of Texas in discussions of homeschool styles, philosophy, books, curriculum, events, and laws in a Christian atmosphere. As we homeschool our children, or unschool our children, this is the place to discuss and share our triumphs, our questions, and our bumps. Although discussions will sometimes stray from the direct purpose of home schooling, it usually does not stray from our children's interests. TexHmEd has been serving the community since August 21, 1998 and is now the largest statewide homeschool list.

I'm so busy

Howdy! We hope you will find this website beneficial to your search for information about homeschooling in general and homeschooling in Texas in particular.  Texas Home Educators are friendly, diverse and independent, just like all Texians.

There are almost 400,000 children homeschooling in Texas, and as you learn about the community, you will find they are bright children pursuing their individual interests and their talents while finding their individual learning styles through home education.

If you don't find your question answered on this website, you can always join the online discussion groups where hundreds of homeschoolers online can answer your question.
